The Digital Revolution in Healthcare

This is just one example of how broader societal adoption and utilisation of Digital has contributed to the rise of ‘The Patient’ and patient empowerment within Healthcare. The explosion of new products, services and wearable technology to monitor and manage health is another.

 As the digital world and its online audience is becoming ever more prevalent within Healthcare, it’s imperative for Healthcare and Pharmaceutical brands to ensure patients are offered relevant, accessible tools with which to support and build this ever-growing community.

Broadly speaking, these sectors have been somewhat slow to fully adopt digital channels into their offerings. However, we are now beginning to see the rise of digital integration into clinical solutions.  

Regulatory bodies have also recognised and capitalised on the shift to patient empowerment - most notably, The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), who have recently launched a Yellow Card app to complement the long-standing Yellow Card scheme. 

Given the vast array of opportunities that this new digital world presents, it may not always be immediately apparent how this shift from traditional media to multi-channel communications can be successfully achieved.
